Effective animal exclusion is not caulk and wire mesh. It requires identifying every potential entry point — not just the obvious ones — and sealing each with the right material for the location, animal, and structure. A roof rat can compress its body through a gap the size of a quarter. A raccoon can push through a poorly secured vent. EXCLUSION BY ANIMAL — WHAT WE SEAL FOR EACH SPECIES
Raccoons
Heavy-gauge galvanized steel mesh at soffit intersections and fascia gaps. Raccoons are strong — standard screen mesh is not sufficient. We use contractor-grade materials rated for their strength and persistence, common in neighborhoods like Dr. Phillips, Baldwin Park, and Winter Garden.
Roof Rats
Roof rats — endemic to all of Central Florida — can enter through gaps as small as ½ inch. We seal every pipe penetration, utility chase, and roofline gap with steel wool backed by concrete or galvanized flashing. A critical service for older Orlando and Seminole County neighborhoods.
Bats
Florida bat exclusion is governed by state law — exclusion (not trapping) is the only legal method, and must not be performed during bat maternity season (April–August). We install one-way bat valves at all roost entry points, then seal permanently after the colony has vacated. Common in tile-roof homes from Kissimmee to Celebration to Lake Nona.
Squirrels
Squirrels gnaw their way through wood fascia and soffits repeatedly until entry is blocked with hard materials. We use aluminum flashing and galvanized mesh at gnaw points, particularly in Oviedo, Longwood, and Winter Springs where mature oak canopy gives squirrels direct roof access.
Armadillos
Armadillos burrow under foundations and into crawlspaces, a persistent problem across Polk and Lake Counties. We install underground L-footer barriers and crawlspace vent hardware cloth to prevent burrowing access, protecting slab and pier-and-beam homes alike.
Opossums & Skunks
Ground-level deck, shed, and crawlspace exclusion using heavy-gauge mesh buried below grade to prevent digging. Common in older Kissimmee and Sanford residential areas with open crawlspace foundations.

Our written re-entry warranty — what it actually means
If any animal re-enters your property through a point our team sealed within 12 months of service, we return and re-seal it at no charge. This warranty applies to all exclusion work across our Central Florida service area — Orlando, Kissimmee, Sanford, Winter Park, Lake Mary, Apopka, Windermere, Clermont, St. Cloud, Lakeland, and all surrounding communities. The warranty is provided in writing at the time of service and is transferable to new homeowners during the coverage period.

What is the difference between wildlife removal and animal exclusion?
Wildlife removal is the process of trapping or relocating an animal that is currently in or on your property. Animal exclusion is the permanent solution — sealing the entry points so no animal can get in again. Removal without exclusion is an incomplete job. The animal you removed is gone, but another will find the same opening within days or weeks. In Central Florida, where wildlife pressure is year-round due to the subtropical climate, exclusion is essential — not optional.
Can I do my own animal exclusion in Florida?
Homeowners can seal some entry points themselves, but DIY exclusion has a poor track record for two reasons: most people identify obvious entry points and miss the hidden ones, and hardware store materials (foam sealant, basic screen mesh) are not rated for the chewing force of raccoons or squirrels. DIY exclusion attempts on bats are also illegal during maternity season under Florida Statute 379. Professional exclusion with a warranty removes all of that uncertainty.
When can bats be excluded from a home in Florida?
Under Florida law, bats may only be excluded outside of bat maternity season, which runs from April 15 through August 15. During this period, young bats (pups) cannot fly and would be trapped inside if exclusion doors were installed. American Wildlife Agents observes this restriction strictly — any company performing bat exclusion during maternity season in Florida is operating illegally and risks significant fines. We will assess your situation, document the colony, and schedule exclusion for the appropriate window.
How long does an exclusion job take?
Most residential exclusion jobs in Orlando, Kissimmee, and surrounding areas are completed in one visit of 2–4 hours, depending on the size of the property and number of entry points. Bat exclusion takes longer because one-way valves must remain in place for a minimum of 5–7 days before final sealing to ensure the colony has fully vacated. We schedule the valve installation and final sealing as two separate visits at no additional cost.
Does homeowner's insurance cover exclusion work in Florida?
Most Florida homeowner's insurance policies do not cover preventive exclusion as a standalone service. However, if exclusion is performed as part of a broader wildlife damage repair claim — which is very common — the exclusion materials and labor may be included under the structural repair portion of the claim. We provide full documentation of all entry points and materials used, which supports your insurer's review. We recommend contacting your carrier before work begins.
